More Be-Waring

And if one cruelly overlooked Fred Waring LP isn't enough for you, how about another one? This is another record that was in my collection for years, but I never paid too much attention to it. I picked it up this year, and decided maybe you needed to hear it. This is nearly 20 years after the last one, close to forever in the music business, but it's still got some of that old Fred Waring magic.  I don't think I like the cover as much, though.  This is Fred Waring And The Pennsylvanians-A Caroling We Go (Decca DL 74809, Stereo, 1966).

1. A Caroling We Go
2. Carol, Brothers, Carol
3. (I) Away In The Manger (II) What Child Is This? (III) Come, Dear Children
4. Some Children See Him
5. Bright, Bright The Holly Berries
6. Mary's Baby
7. Be Joyful, Be Merry
8. (I) Season's Greetings (From "A Caroling We Go") (II) Christmas Roundelay
9. O Listen To The Angels' Song
10. (I) Angels We Have Heard On High (II) O Come, O Come, Emmanuel (III) Jubilate Deo
11. It Was A Night Of Wonder
12. King Herod's Black Decree
13. I Wonder As I Wander
14. Caroling, Caroling

  3. There are 10 seeders of this file on BT right now. Your download should be very fast.

  4. Oh no, I've been searching for years for Christmas Roundelay and now I can't get it. Perhaps you can offer that track in a compilation? I'm not aware that it is commercially available digitally.
This is my Favorite Christmas blog. You rule, Ernie!
    Cheers!

  5. Thought I would try to use Torrent since MediaFire blocked your post but got a strange message when I tried to open Torrent - "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (magnet) isn't associated with any program."

I have no idea what that means.

    Merry Christmas!!!

Well, that was nice. Sorry if MediaFire is interrupting your free Christmas music feast. And if you aren't interested in learning how to download the torrents, I guess you'll have to go download stuff elsewhere. Have a nice time!

PS-If FireFox gives you a message about how to open the torrent, you need to either install a torrent client, or tell Firefox to use your torrent client. Once you've done that, it should work automagically next time.

  10. Okay, I have been reluctant to try the Torrent service, but I wanted to hear this music, so I finally caved in. I don't know what I was so worried about! It works so much better than the Mediafire downloads. Thanks for your patience with us scaredy-cats. And thanks for the great music!

  13. Ernie, one of the cool things that I like about Fred Waring Christmas albums is the presence of carols that I think must have been commissioned by Waring. At least, I've never heard them anywhere else.
    Thanks for both these shares.

  14. Thank you!! These are great. If you could please post a torrent of your remaster of Fred Waring's 'Twas the Night Before Christmas' that would just make my holiday season! It looks like the links on your "Revised Waring" post from 2010 are broken.. :( I've bought this on vinyl a few times and have made my own rips, but, the quality has just been disappointing. I'd really love to hear your version!! If you could make this a torrent, I would seed it forever. :D
